| 8/10 | Good - extremely scary, great characters in the children, a wonderfully Lovecraftian villain (for most of it), an epic feel. Bad - the story completely ran out of steam after 1200 pages and then descended into sci-fi pulpy nonsense on the lowest calibre of strange. It detracted from all of the horror and any shred of seriousness. But, overall, you could do a lot worse. An entertaining read. | |||||
