| About: Fahrenheit 451 is a novel written by Ray Bradbury, published in 1953. The novel describes a totally collapsed society of America in the future, where reading books has been completely outlawed. With moralities declining, the prohibition of book reading is made sure by a filthy act of burning all the literature and other books including the Bible. The job of firemen is to burn the maximum amount of books possible rid every house from any form of literature. One of the firemen, Bradbury, the leading character, is supposed to burn an old lady's house for having kept literature, but as he draws near to her books, she burns the house and herself for the love of books. This incident disturbs Bradbury and he somehow gets a hold of one of the books and reads it. He then realizes that this society needs to be changed as it has collapsed in the worst form. The interpretations of the massive change in society are remarkable and makes this book a must read. The book has many theatrical and movie adaptations. |
