| About: Captain courageous is a novel written by Rudyard Kipling in 1897. He is also famous for his books The jungle book and The man who would be king. The novel is based around the leading character named Harvey Cheyne Jr. who is an arrogant and spoiled child of a railroad tycoon. In stance of his being spoiled, he is offered a job by Disco Troop, who is the captain. Harvey accepts. From here, Harvey experiences a series of adventures and challenges which further help the boy to adjust with ups and downs of life and the rusty aspects as well. After making a remarkable success, Harvey returns and amazes his parents by introducing himself as an industrious, responsible man who owns his own private rail car called the Constance. Further Harvey takes over his father's business. This book is a must read for youngsters and adults alike. It brings sheds light on responsibility and consideration. It is also an amazing guide for people to adjust with ever changing life. The book had several films, theatrical and television adaptations as well. |
